Dynamic Cadaveric Gait Simulation: Steps into the Future

چکیده
INTRODUCTION Experiments utilizing cadaveric models can be designed to investigate a variety of issues related to functional anatomy and orthopedic pathology. Examining isolated components of the foot or ankle is useful but may not provide meaningful insight into the structure’s overall in vivo function during activities of daily living. Recently cadaver models, consisting of the entire foot and ankle complex, have been developed in order to gain a better understanding of lower extremity biomechanics in health and disease.

A Cadaveric Robotic Gait Simulator with Fuzzy Logic Vertical Ground Reaction Force Control
Lower limb dynamic cadaveric gait simulators are useful to investigate the biomechanics of the foot and ankle but many systems, including earlier versions of ours, have several common limitations including, simplified tibial kinematics [1-4], greatly reduced velocities [1-4], and open loop trial and error vertical ground reaction force (vGRF) control [1, 2, 4]. To address these limitations, we ...
متن کاملFoot joint pressures during dynamic gait simulation
Methods 5 fresh cadaveric specimens were connected to a dynamic gait simulator. I-scan #6900 sensors® were calibrated and surgically inserted into the subtalar (ST), naviculocuneiform (NC) calcaneocuboid (CC), and talonavicular (TN) joints using a joint spreader. Each foot was walked multiple trials across a force platform for three conditions (normal, flatfoot, flatfoot-orthotic). The flatfoot...
متن کاملAdjacent Joint Kinematics After Ankle Arthrodesis During Cadaveric Gait Simulation.
BACKGROUND Arthrodesis is an effective and reliable treatment for end-stage ankle arthritis; however, many patients develop ipsilateral adjacent joint arthritis following surgery. The mechanism that drives adjacent joint arthritis remains uncertain. Cadaveric simulation permits direct investigation of the effects of both arthrodesis and movement strategy on adjacent joints during simulated walk...

متن کاملStabilization and Walking Control for a Simple Passive Walker Using Computed Torque Method (RESEARCH NOTE)
Abstract The simple passive dynamic walker can walk down a shallow downhill slope with no external control or energy input. Nevertheless, the period-one gait stability is only possible over a very narrow range of slopes. Since the passive gaits are extremely sensitive to slope angles, it is important to use a control strategy in order to achieve a wide range of stable walking. The computed to...
